Play and Art Exhibition took place on May 20. The boys have been working hard to get
ready for what will be their most challenging show to date "A Grim Night
for Hans Christian Andersen." This year the Art Exhibition was dedicated to Innuit Art.
Students from intire school were involved in preparation of both events.
The musical was a great success and standing ovations were very well deserved.

Electric car demonstration
Check the Photo Gallery for details. We had two great guest speakers last week - Mr. Steve
Dallas was on hand to talk about his invention and to let the boys view the
finished product - an electric car of his own design. Dennis Heyes (former Northmount
Student and current College student) spoke about animal safety. Thank you Dennis and
Steve for your work with our boys.
Science Fair was a great success! The projects were terrific.
The presentations made by the boys about the science in their projects really
highlighted their superior knowledge and scientific insights. As parents,
you would have been very proud to hear them explain their findings to the
judges. Our judges all have extensive backgrounds in science practicing
scientists, retired engineers, practicing educators. The quality of the
judges gives great credence to the importance that we place on the
importance of this event. Thank you to the judges for being with us, to the
teachers for the work they did in putting on this event, and to you for
helping your sons do real science.

Science Fair will take place on the 31st. Older boys will be judged on the quality of their projects as well as the way in which they can explain the
science in their presentations. Younger boys will be demonstrating their work but will not be judged. For both groups of boys the opportunity to do
science experiments is what the exercise is all about.

Northmount School will host its 19th Annual Gala on April 24, 2010 at the Watermark Irish Pub at 207 Queen’s Quay West in Toronto.
The theme for this year’s festivities is “Atlantic Adventure” and will feature a draw for a trip for four to Atlantic Canada.
The Gala is the most important fundraising event of the school and at the same time it also serves as our biggest community
building event of the year. The Gala will see “old boys”, alumni families, current families, and friends of the school gathering
to celebrate all that is great about Northmount. This year’s event will feature fine Atlantic cuisine served throughout the
evening accompanied by music that will be sure to keep patrons in a party mood well into the night.
Tickets are $150 each with a table for 10 priced at $1350 while the Alumni price is set at $75.00.
Please join us for an evening of fun and community building while we raise funds for the school.
Northmount School Olympics came to grand and very exciting climax on Friday.
On that day our students competed in the final event of our very own Winter Olympic Games, Long Track Skating,
with Fox House winning the day. Each school day during the two week Winter Olympic Games period saw our boys
competing in events like Bobsled, Hockey, Paraolympic Hockey, Luge and Skeleton. Fox, Orr and Banting House
members tried very hard to win each of the competitions but always in the spirit of friendly competition.
At the end of each day the competitors were awarded Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medals in recognition of their success.
The final day of our Olympics also featured a moving and heartwarming Closing Ceremony.
Our athletes marched proudly into the Agora where they took the Athlete’s Oath and committed themselves to continue
to compete in a manner befitting their Knight status. They then watched a video presentation of their endeavors
throughout the two weeks – many laughs and “high fives” were shared as the boys saw pictures of themselves or of their friends.
Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates were handed out and then the boys rose as one and sung “O Canada” with all the enthusiasm of
true Olympic Athletes. All-in-all, it was a remarkable event in the life of the school! March 1, 2010
Northmount Olympics are off to a great start.
The boys did an amazing job in designing House Flags and Mrs. Withers did an even more amazing job in
actually making the flags. The boys have been enthusiastically waving them
for their fellow house members during each competition. When you drop your
son off in the morning please stop by and look at the flags better yet,
have your son explain the symbols on his house¹s flag. February 18, 2010
