About Us

Northmount Independent Catholic Boys Elementary School (JK to Grade 8) establishes a young man as a person who uses his academic prowess with discernment and wisdom.

We are College Board approved Pre A.P. School. Our students are guided by a program of study that is designed for boys. The use of experiential learning that engages all of a young man’s senses are a critical tenet to the delivery of the curriculum. Our lessons feature numerous opportunities for movement, expression, experimentation, presentation and the building of core skills in order to achieve extraordinary results.

The enriched curriculum has proven track record with a remarkable CAT3 and EQAO standing that parents and students can count upon to obtain their school of choice beyond the grade eight.

As we are a traditional elementary school, we ensure that all of the doors of opportunity for participation in athletics, the arts, theater and community service are always open to each student. Communication between home and school is unparallel with our advisory and genuine character education program that guarantees a comprehensive and personal experience for all of our families.

The road to future excellence begins with an elementary school that mirrors the high standards of your home and works with you to place your son on a road witch he can derive much joyful learning with sound social graces and wisdom.

A Northmount education is founded on unchanging truths in harmony with and anchored in the teachings of the Catholic Church. The Catholic education program is quite comprehensive as the Faith is truly being taught. Character education from a Catholic perspective benefits all students through strong character development.

Northmount encourages families of all faiths to attend. While we base our religious and character education on the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church; we want our students of other faith traditions to be the best possible adherent of their particular beliefs.

Our History

Northmount School was founded in 1990 by parents who wanted their sons to achieve academic excellence through the development of the whole person. They wanted a school that would assist them in the vital task of raising their children.

A fundamental principle of our philosophy is that the education of children is primarily the responsibility of parents. We educate our students not only as students, but also as sons, brothers and neighbors.

Our young men use common sense to achieve uncommon character.

Up until 1999 the school was housed in various buildings – starting with the basement of a home, then moved into a church hall, and later a converted office. All these locations, though necessary at the time, didn’t provide the facilities or grounds required for a superior education.

The Board of Directors, with tremendous assistance from the Northmount Foundation, converted the site at 26 Mallard Road into the school we now call home. The vision for the building modernization included the development of a Music Studio, Art Lab, Full Sized Gymnasium, Library, Computer Lab, Science Lab, Nine Classrooms (one for each grade) and an Oratory as the spiritual heart of the school. The Board’s vision has paid great dividends in that the school is without debt and the students are able to receive an education that is in keeping with all that we know about the ways in which boys learn best!

From the beginning, and carried forth to this day, has been a belief in the importance of “small by design.” The school was meant to be a community, and a community it is! The boys feel welcomed and at home in the school. They are blessed to be able to go to school in an environment that is warm and friendly and a place where they are appreciated for being boys.
