Basketball
With practice beginning as early as November, something big was coming for the Northmount Knights Senior Basketball Team. The sport was also being played and instructed in their Physical Education Class where most of the core and periphery players were found. Northmount`s gym also received the generous donation of a score clock, which added to the thrill of games. It was impressive to also see so many volunteers for score and time keeping services. S.S.A.F. planners recognized that our facility was worthy of hosting a great deal of games as its quality is rarely matched in relation to our competitors from other schools. The regular season would see the Knights playing a seven game schedule, with an astonishing amount of home games. In fact, five of the seven games would be played at Northmount in front of an ever-growing and enthusiastic audience, whose volume of cheers and screams echoed through the entire school. Our young men posted some incredible scores and to them and their coach`s credit avoided `running up the score` on their opponents. Taking an impressive 5-2 record with no at-home defeats into the playoffs pumped up the entire school. They were victorious in the first round in a spectacular game against VOICE at home. Unfortunately they lost in the next round to the team that would eventually win the pennant. Next year looks great, more than half of the core is returning to Northmount and the talent pool runs deep with up-and-coming players and those on the Junior Team. Congratulations to Coach Mansey, the players, volunteers, and parents for their support.
