A Demonstration of Excellence: Portfolio Conferencing
A portfolio is a demonstration of progress over time, the reflection of what a student deems important about who he is becoming, and a showcase of his talents. While the portfolio is driven by the teacher(s), it is the student who compiles the information, answers the questions regarding his goals (academic, social, athletic, personal, and spiritual), and draws out aspects of his character that he feels he can recognize. While Northmount certainly displays student work, this parallel process only adds to the demonstration of excellence.
As in our Writing Traits Program, the portfolio process instructs the student on how to properly make a presentation and to refer to their portfolio as a means to better provide responses to interview questions. The senior students and their families have found it to be an excellent resource and skill set for the private secondary school admissions process. It also creates confidence, pride in one's work, and strengthens self-esteem through tangible means.

A love learning is developed through an exhibition of a student's life at school. It is positive, engaged, and inspired. |
